Alex came through the ranks at Luton Town FC and earned himself a professional contract with the club in 2010.
During the clubs 2013-14 pre season campaign Alex was named captain for pre season, at the age of 20, Alex then captained the side on their first league game of the season.

Alex was also linked with potential moves to Bournemouth, Charlton, Peterborough and Millwall however in April 2014, Lacey signed a 2 year contract extension with Luton, Luton then won promotion to the Football League with him playing a massive part.

In July 2015, Alex signed for League 2 side Yeovil Town, at the end of the 2016/17 season he was awarded with the Green & White Supporters Club and Community Sports Trust Player of the season trophies.

At the end of the 2016/17 season, Alex signed for League 1 side Gillingham FC where he continues to impress.

Now, on to the tips provided by professional footballer Alex Lacey:

1. Make the most of your chance and give it your all
2. Don’t have any expectations, it can take a lot of different trials before a team signs you so don’t lose faith!
3. Enjoy it and use the experience to be more successful in the next trial.

Some top advice from a player that knows what academy football is about and continues to impress as a professional.
